A student body of the Department of Earth Sciences, IIT Roorkee, Hamrock Society is the cornerstone of all extra and co-curricular activities of the Department. Since its inception in 1966 the Society is also the focal point of faculty-student-alumni interactions. Its not for nothing that they say, "once a Hamrockian, always a Hamrockian..." |

Hamrock has been around for a long time and a number of active internet groups and communities are listed below.
If you know of any group or community not listed below, please send us the details using the "Contact us" link in the Main Menu.
Please note however that for groups representing "Earth Scientists from Roorkee" we will be listing only EarthSciences_Roorkee on Yahoo! Groups and HAMROCK SOCIETY on Orkut Communities, vis-a-vis these two particular fora; this policy is to reduce redundacny and increase participation on the most active communities.
Relavant communites which serve and represent a genuine sub-group of Hamrockians are most welcome. |

Please note that the "Year of study" field in the Registration page has 7 options - the numbers 1 to 5, RESEARCH and ALUMNI. Current students of the department are required to fill in the number corresponding to their current year of study. THIS FIELD DOES NOT REFER TO THE LENGTH IN YEARS OF YOUR COURSE. For example a 3-year M.Tech. student in his/her second year should select 2 NOT 3. Thank you.
