THE NATURE’S LULLABY
Lakshman jhula is the place where we had our field trip in the first year .On a chilly full moon night as we passed the jhula there was an impulse in me to stood and admire the beauty of the Ganges .It was half-past eight , the Ganges was as calm as a sleeping child . I stood at the center of the jhula and those few minutes were unforgettable moments in my life. I stretched my arms and leaned on the jhula .As I closed my eyes the wind gently blew off my face. It seems to me as the Mother Nature touched me with her beautiful arm. I experienced a soft tender feeling which Wordsworth might have experienced when he was standing upon the Thames River, admiring the beauty of the London city. Is it the Ganges that brought the Wordsworth out of me or am I a Wordsworth already? I opened my eyes and saw the mountains before me. They seem to be sleeping for me. The breeze which I felt just before was nothing but the voice of the Mother Nature. It’s a lullaby sung by the Mother Nature itself in the form of a gentle breeze for the mountains to sleep. I turned around to share the rhythm of this lullaby with my friends but I couldn’t find anybody around me. The Ganges which was roaring throughout the day was flowing gently now as it doesn’t want to disturb the sleeping mountains. The clouds passed by and covered the moon .Was it a passing cloud? Or a curtain for the child’s bedroom. As the clouds passed at the top of the mountain, it seems as the Mother Nature was waving her arm on the child’s forehead. Thousands have passed the bridge but none had the time or a space to spare, to drink this beauty. It was very dark, calm and quiet around me. Its time for me to leave as I don’t want to disturb the sleeping mountains. Our mind is the best thing to capture the golden moments of the life as it captured these moments for me. When ever I closed my eyes I thought that I was standing on the jhula, admiring the beauty of the sleeping mountains.

FETTERED FANCIES
Notes resound from the lap of morn, Radiant shafts paint the skies; Blossoms smiling at the new day born, In gentle measure do they rise. Docile eyes reflect the glow, Naïve heart brims with life, Alas! The soul is betide with woe; Bitten and bruised by toil and strife. But it wills to play, to swing and sway, To flit and caper, the world is its fold; To soar high, to break away, To soak in the spirit and be cast in its mould. Then the leash tightens, the dreams shatter, Forlorn, the child collects the pieces, Silences the yearnings, trembling to a batter, Clips the wings, lest he seizes.
The hapless child sheds a tear, And stows the heart away in fear.

With almost unforgiving eyes, I was staring at the door before me. And the more I focussed on it, the more my heart sank to think of the consequences. I’m sure, I’m not the only one to have undergone the trauma, and the list must be endless. In the other cases I have actually seen the victims look as impatient as though it were their chance to ascend the stairway to Heaven!!! . And then there are the “Extra Cool” ones, Buddhas on the quest of Nirvana, trying to hide the desperation on their faces (& somewhere below) with unconventional talk, but only in vain. It is actually worth admiring that even at the critical moment such nerve wracking characters continue their blabber about politics, the nuclear deal .........with utmost intricacy and the diligence of a rocket scientist! Kudos to their courage!! But I’m sure that from within, they must also be hoping that everything else was as simple as the “1-2-3” deal. But the pleasant fact is that destiny plays its trick on those who are at the non receiving end, someday or the other. Now, I’d better unravel the mystery here. The much talked about and hyped door is that of the last toilet of our wing at 7:00 a.m.! One must appreciate the fact that Nature truly holds “Unity among Diversity”, because in this case it is the coherence of the bio-chemical reactions within the body which is the source of the actual problem. For when Nature calls, it’s hard to get away!! Also, one might notice that the erstwhile mentioned category of “pseudo-Buddhas” is rather obsessed with the word “crap”. If ever there was irony, it couldn’t have been clearer since the word is courtesy the distinguished gentleman Mr. Crapper who had the honour of creating flush toilets. In this world of winner takes all (& dumps it in the right place), spare a thought for the losers, who, defeated in their eternal wait, switch to a random mechanism for their “bio-chemical “reactions (& the precipitates thereby). They prefer to leave their mark at every place they visit (in a different way), instead of visiting the above much visited place regularly, thus reminding us,

GODSEND
I had gone through a very bad day. It seemed as if the day was doomed. I felt as if I was all alone in this entire conditional world……..completely confused at not being able to understand the irony of life. My mind pondered over questions like how to deal with life, how man digs his own grave while striving to live. Tired and dejected I went to bed trying to console my heart and hiding tears under the pillow. Then slowly my eyes became heavy and I entered a beautiful, serene world…….My soul suddenly felt divine presence and my heart was at peace………….. Believe me friends, after that something happened which changed me and my approach towards life……………
“So you would like to interview me?” God asked. “If you have time”, I said. God smiled and said,”My time is eternity. What question do you have in mind to ask me?” And then our conversation started……………………….
I asked,”What surprises you the most about humankind?” “That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up and then long to be children again. That they lose their health in order to make money and then lose their money to restore their health. That by thinking about the future they forget the present such that they live neither in present nor in future. That they live as if they will never die, and die as if they had never lived.”
God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a while. Then I asked, “As a parent what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn? God replied with a smile,”To learn that they cannot make anyone love them. What they can do is to let themselves be as they are……..
To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see very differently…….. To learn that what is more valuable is not what they are in their lives, but who they have in their lives……………. To learn it is not good to compare themselves to others ……….. To learn that a rich person is not the one who has the most, but is the one who needs the least……….. To learn that it only takes you few seconds to open profound wounds in those one loves, and that it may take many years to heal them…………. To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness….. To learn that there are people who love them dearly but simply do not know how to express or show their feelings………. To learn that it is not always enough that they are forgiven by others, but that they must also forgive themselves. And to know that I am always there……………watching and taking care of my children.”
Then I woke up startled, recollecting the blessed conversation. Suddenly it seemed as if all my worries were baseless and I could see a ray of hope. I experienced a reversal of attitude. With that note I entered into a new day with the confidence that I would face the world as it is no matter what may come.
